BOURNE, Mass. – Approximately 600 people arrived at Air Station Cape Cod, here, to welcome back Coast Guard Port Security Unit 301 crewmembers after they returned from a six-month deployment at around midnight Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010.

The PSU has been responsible for port security operations in and around Kuwait.

Some key accomplishments while over seas include providing escorts and protection for more than 85 important assets, and operational planning for resupplying ammunitions in four different operations.

The PSU 301 security division integrated soldiers, sailors, and guardians to manage security at entries to the Port of Mina Ash Shu’aybah in Kuwait.

PSU 301 logistics members organized storerooms and inventory valued at more than 2.5 million dollars.

The PSU 301 is compromised of 140 selected reservists and six active duty personnel and was established in Aug. 20, 2005. The PSU’s mission is to provide port security and anti-terrorism force protection in support of military and humanitarian operations worldwide. PSU 301 maintains garrison facilities as a tenant command of Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod in Bourne, Mass.
