TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. — The helicopter hangar at Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City bustles with activity Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, as the unit held an open house for local residents to see their equipment up close and speak with Coast Guard men and women who serve the area.

About 3,000 people came to learn more about the air station, as well as speak with crewmembers from Coast Guard Station Charlevoix, Mich., and local law enforcement and emergency first responders.
