Coast Guard medically evacuates 13-year-old girl

BOSTON - Coast Guard rescue crews medically evacuated a 13-year-old girl after she was struck by a boat off the coast of Chatham, Mass., at approximately 3:30 p.m., Saturday.
Orleans Fire Department and local EMS took her to Cape Cod Hospital where she was air-lifted by a Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
The girl suffered a broken leg and hip as well as lacerations to her lower body. She was listed in stable condition upon arrival in Boston.
"It took her strength and a team effort to get her to where she is, and we wish her a successful recovery," said Lt. Joe Klinker, 1st Coast Guard District Public Affairs Officer.
Investigations into recreational boating incidents within state waters are led by state and local law enforcement authorities.
