JUNEAU, Alaska — A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew forward deployed to Cold Bay medevaced an ailing mariner from King Cove to Cold Bay Monday.

The Jayhawk crew safely transported the 58-year-old man, who was suffering from an eye injury, to waiting commercial medevac services in Cold Bay.

Coast Guard 17th District command center watchstanders received the report of the injured mariner, aboard the fishing vessel Golden Alaska, early Monday morning. The vessel was 125 miles southeast of Cold Bay and began transiting to King Cove.
