BURLINGTON, Vt. — The media are invited to attend a Coast Guard search and rescue vessel demonstration at 10 a.m., Friday Feb. 5, 2010 in Lake Champlain near the old Coast Guard Station Burlington will be demonstrating their new air/ice rescue boat that has the ability to transit ice and water. During the demonstration, the boatcrew will be placing someone in the water and then simulating a rescue from the new boat. The boatcrew will be providing interviews and answering questions after the demonstration. Coast Guard Station Burlington was established in 1948 as a four-man light attendant station. The station responds to a wide variety of requests for assistance and in the past few years search and rescue cases have numbered between 200 to 300 per year. |
