Coast Guard Station Burlington to demonstrate new search and rescue vessel

BURLINGTON, Vt. — The media are invited to attend a Coast Guard search and rescue vessel demonstration at 10 a.m., Friday Feb. 5, 2010 in Lake Champlain near the old Crown Point Bridge site.

Coast Guard Station Burlington will be demonstrating their new air/ice rescue boat that has the ability to transit ice and water.

During the demonstration, the boatcrew will be placing someone in the water and then simulating a rescue from the new boat.

The boatcrew will be providing interviews and answering questions after the demonstration.

Coast Guard Station Burlington was established in 1948 as a four-man light attendant station. The station responds to a wide variety of requests for assistance and in the past few years search and rescue cases have numbered between 200 to 300 per year.
