Coast Guard response boat demonstration at James Creek Marina

as part of Regional Partnership Days

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Coast Guard’s Office of International Acquisition invites members of the media to attend the sixth annual Regional Partnership Days Thursday at 10 a.m. at the James Creek Marina in Washington.

This is an excellent opportunity for members of the media to tour, ride and photograph some of the Coast Guard’s response boats, talk to crew members and participate in demonstrations on the water. Coast Guard Training Center Yorktown, Va., will bring its 45-foot Response Boat – Medium and 38-foot Special Purpose Craft training boat. Coast Guard Station Washington will bring its 25-foot Response Boat – Small. The RB-M and RB-S are new assets acquired by the Coast Guard as part of its fleet recapitalization. An official from the RB-M acquisition project office will also be available to answer questions.

In addition, several boat builders are scheduled to have vessels available for demonstration. SAFE Boats International will bring its 44-foot Full Cabin Archangel, 41-foot T-Top, 33-foot Full Cabin Special Purpose Craft – Law Enforcement and 25-foot T-Top. Metal Shark Aluminum Boats will bring its 40-foot Fearless aluminum hull. Zodiac will bring its H940 (aluminum hull, outboard-powered boat) and 2800 Law Enforcement Craft (28-foot center console T-top with outboard power).

Regional Partnership Days bring Washington-based international representatives together for briefings, discussions and demonstrations related to Coast Guard response boats. Since these events began, 174 defense and naval attachés representing 78 countries have participated. Many of the nations represented have already purchased Coast Guard platform response boats.

Credentialed members of the press wishing to attend should RSVP to Joy Crabaugh at (202) 475-5530 or Joy.Crabaugh@uscg.mil
