COAST GUARD ASSISTS IN FIGHTING
LOS ANGELES – The Coast Guard continues to provide assistance to area firefighters and rescue personnel in their ongoing efforts to battle the blazes in
-- Personnel have been assigned to work in the Joint Field Office in
-- A Coast Guard C-130 from Air Station Sacramento, Calif. flew two flights into
-- A Coast Guard C-130 from Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C. flew a FEMA Federal Incident Response Support Team (FIRST), their vehicles and equipment from
-- A
-- A team of firefighter from the Coast Guard Training Center in
-- Helicopters from Air Station San Diego flew the Governor of California and the Secretary of Homeland Security on an overflight of the San Diego Fires.
-- The Coast Guard Cutter Halibut was standing by as crews onshore fought the
-- More that 100 Coast Guard personnel and their families have also been evacuated from their homes throughout
The Coast Guard will continue to provide assistance as needed to other emergency personnel in the disaster-zone areas.
