Several months ago, Evan started wanting to go outside to play with his friends in the neighborhood. Many of those kids are allowed to roam all over the place, but Evan knows he is only allowed to play in our front yard. I try to take toys out that appeal to all the kids so that he won’t want to go over where they are.
Little Tikes has many awesome toys that I let the neighborhood kids come over and play with. They are extremely high quality and withstand hours of play from kids of all ages. Little Tikes has been manufacturing kids toys in Hudson, Ohio since 1970. As their website states, Little Tikes is committed to making safe, quality, durable fun toys that encourage discovery and learning through active, creative, and social play. Little TikesĀ® urges children to play outdoors and “Get Up and Grow”!

Here are most of the pieces ready to be put together.

My husand and I worked together to put the Market Stand together. As you can see below, there were several steps(even more inside the pamphlet) and screws, so he would screw things together while I read ahead to the next steps. It took us about 20 minutes to have it ready.

The doors to the front really do slide from side to side so you can access the food from the front or back of the stand.

We have a garage full of toys and the backyard has even more. Out of all of those toys, this is the biggest hit with the neighborhood kids. ALL of the kids come running over when we take this out and they range in age from 1(Isabella) to 9. The older kids usually have to kneel down, but they love playing this with the younger kids. The cash register is by far the most fought over part. They do well about taking turns being the cashier, but everyone wants to put their own money in the register. I wish that the register did more than just open. I wish it had a little more money so all the kids got to hold a dollar, and I wish that it would ding or really calculate when you press the numbers.

Even though Isabella is only one, she has just as much fun with the market as the other kids. She watches them get their food and then they get her some too. I just sit back and laugh at them “pretending”. Their little conversations are hilarious.

The top is actually a chalkboard so you can write whatever you want on it. When it is time to close shop, the kids can turn the knob and lower the awning.

There are wheels on one side and a handle on the other so you can easily roll it around. This makes it easier for me to pull in and out of the garage when the kids come over to play.

I think that the age recommendation is 3+ on this toy, but at 1, Isabella loves it. It will entertain kids for many years because like I said, even the 9 year-olds like the play with it. If you’re looking for a toy that will keep the neighborhood kids in your yard, this is the one to go with. Multiple kids can play at once(I’ve seen about 7 kids standing in line to “buy food”) and it holds the attention of such a large age group.
I have had this toy set up for 1 1/2 months and it still gets played with almost daily. At only $99, I really think this toy is a great value. The only thing that I would change is to have a cash register with more money and options.
