I posted about my dad making things out of wood as a hobby a few weeks ago. He has a huge workshop that is full of tools and wood that Evan likes to watch him work in. Evan started showing an interest in “helping” my dad work in the shop too and I knew it was time to get him a workbench.

Gummy Lump sent us this Wooden Workbench Pretend Play Set by Melissa and Doug.

We set the Workbench up in my dad’s shop so Evan can build things while my dad does. Evan is still a little young to really build things, but he can hammer away on the workbench or use the vice and other tools. With help, he can use this book to make his own creations. I don’t think it will be long until he can build things all by himself by looking at this book.

This is the bottom shelf of the bench that can hold even more supplies and tools.

The “coolest” aspect of the workbench is the working vice-it’s just like “Pop’s”!

The back of the workbench serves as a Tool Rack to keep all of the tools up and out of the way while you work.

In true, Melissa & Doug fashion, the Workbench is made of 100% wood which results in high quality toys. It requires no batteries and provides hours of imaginative fun. I think it came with some great pieces, but I do believe it would have been a little better with a few more so that kids can create even more and bigger items. Kids have a sense of accomplishment when showing off their new creations.
