I’ve been meaning to do this post for weeks now, but I lost my camera remote after putting it in a ‘safe place’ recently and I could never get an actual photo of myself. It would have taken me one day to get a new one, but you know how it is. And this way I get to use a selfie…
About a year ago or so, I had a really bad haircut – I can’t even remember where it was, as the haircut wasn’t so bad at the time – but it soon grew to resemble a mullet. The stylist had chopped so many layers in to my (fine!) hair that I had a full grown mullet. The under layers were super long and trailing down my neck, while the shorter ones were around ear-length. It was like being 14 again.
Anyway, I’ve spent all this time trying to grow my hair in to one length; no easy feat. Well, it’s more that it’s just been a long process… especially as I’m trying to grow out my fringe too. We all know this is such an infuriating affair.
I wanted to try a new hairdresser recently so I found Anderson’s Hair through Wahanda, and booked myself an appointment. The majority of this decision was based on the design of the salon – this place looks like my dream house! The entire team were so lovely too, and I really felt at home here – so if you’re looking for a new salon, Glasgow girls, I highly recommend checking it out.
I wanted something a little different with my hair – I always have it the same ashy brown hue and I wanted to freshen it up for summer, so I went for their ‘Flamboyage’ – a technique a little like Balayage for adding some bursts of blonde to the hair. The girls used sticky strips (kind of like wax strips) to pick up random sections of hair to bleach, so I have a lovely pop of blonde all through my hair. It’s mainly concentrated at the front of my hair, kind of under my top layer. I absolutely love it, I’ve never had anything like this before and I can’t believe how natural and fresh it looks. I think I’ll slowly add a touch more blonde, probably not next time but the time after that.
The appointment was unbelievably affordable, considering I was getting a hair colouring, Flamboyage, a wash, cut and blowdry – it was just over £80 as I booked through Wahanda, which is crazy good for a city centre salon. Plus they used Davines products as they’re a Davines salon, and my hair smelt and felt incredible for weeks afterwards!
The rest of my hair was slowly evened out, and I had some brown dye put on too, just to darken and freshen up my colour. I always go for quite an ashy medium brown, nothing too crazy.
Hopefully soon I’ll have my hair all one length, I think right now the top layer is still slightly shorter but it’s getting there! One day I’ll also be free of a fringe, but that seems so far away right now. I’ll probably want my fringe back again by the time that rolls around.
My hair looks and feels SO much thicker and fuller now it’s without 30,000 layers – I wish hairdresser’s would understand this about my hair! NO MORE LAYERS.
A hair ‘do I really recommend! What do you think of the new cut and colour?
