Rescuing Dehydrated Skin.

Rescuing Dehydrated Skin.

This post is for the ladies who can’t get enough of the spot cream – I totally feel you! When a blemish comes a-callin’ it seems like the only thing to do is slap on some high-strength spot cream and deal with the consequences later – just so long as that spotty chin goes…

I recently got my hands on some Duac on prescription, this stuff is amazing for taking down spots, but also a killer for the skin. After a couple of days application, my skin resembles leather. Sexy. What’s worse is that I would rather have dry, reptilian skin than spots so it doesn’t even stop me.

Luckily I seem to have found a duo that helps to clear up my super-parched complexion; it consists of a lovely, nourishing oil – Clarins Blue Orchid Oil (£28.15), this stuff isn’t natural but I just adore it too much to give it up. It’s the first thing I reach for when my skin feels parched, and you only need a couple of drops massaged in, a few nights in a row, to see a big difference. It’s not too heavy, and you can even mix a drop in with your moisturiser if you prefer.

I recommend combining it with a moisture mask for serious results; I love the incredible Aurelia Cell Revitalise Rose Mask (£65), a dreamy cocktail of nutrients, peptides and probiotics. You may have noticed that I swear by this brand, I recommend them where possible as their all-natural formulations are just divine.

This mask works miracles on dry, dehydrated and lacklustre skin – just one application seems to churn out a new complexion! I usually use a lovely cream or balm cleanser, then mix up an oil and mask cocktail to apply to the skin. I’ve tried both mixing them together, and applying a silky layer of oil, followed by a thick layer of mask and both work great. I tend to leave it on for a little more time than they say – typically around 20 minutes, until I think it’s worked its magic for long enough.

Then I simply wipe off, double-tone my skin with something non-drying and follow with the incredible Aurelia Revitalise & Glow Serum and my normal night cream. Skin feels super soft, has this gorgeous dewy glow, and the reptilian skin is gone!
