The Everyday Bag.

There was once a time where I wouldn’t even look at a bag this size – all my handbags could hold the entire kitchen, not just the sink. I’ve always preferred oversized handbags for carting around my life – until recently, when I finally decided it was time to kick the habit and go for smaller sized body bags that were a little more practical.

I like to think of this as a Spring bag – although you will see there was one thing I could not budge on – the colour (in my defence, I picked the bag a few months back – when the weather was even more miserable than it is now!).

I will always love black handbags are they’re just so practical and they go with everything! I wanted an everyday bag that would hold my purse, phone and camera – as well as a few makeup essentials – without becoming a burden. I thought of my upcoming trip to New York when I made my decision, and when I spied this multi-textured beauty on the Aspinal of London site, well it was love at first sight…

There was no going back on my decision once I had spied the the Mini Shoulder Buckle Bag (£295), a beautiful mix of texture and metallic details. I love a black and gold handbag, and the sleek nubuck against the soft leather finished it off. It’s a sophisticated, practical but entirely stylish pick, and despite it’s small size, it holds a good amount!

I could have gone for a brighter hue, as the bag comes in a sexy shade of neon pink, or a more understated nude, but when it comes to a luxe handbag, I prefer to have it in a classic colour that I won’t get bored of. Something I can wear with anything and not feel like it works only in certain seasons. Plus, I wear a lot of black…

The bag itself is keeping well, I was worried that the nubuck would dirty over time and become dull, but it still looks like the above. The red inside is also a beautiful touch that makes the bag feel so swish! Plus, you don’t have to undo the buckle each time, as there’s a magnet open underneath. This small detail was pretty much a deciding factor for me…
