Bamboobies Breastfeeding Products + Prize Pack Giveaway {$115 ARV}

Hi, everyone! I recently brought on my friend Christina to help share her thoughts on some baby products since there are no babies in my house. Check out her thoughts on Bamboobies below – along with a complete breastfeeding prize pack giveaway for my pregnant or nursing mamas!

I was recently given the opportunity to try out several products from Bamboobies® so that I could share my experience with you. I received the Bamboobies Chic Nursing Shawl in black with the flower accent, the Bamboobies Brahhh nursing bra in blackberry with the flower accent, the Bamboobies Nursing Pads Multi-pack (3 pairs of regular, one pair of overnight), and a jar of Boob-Ease 100% Organic Nipple Balm. I love that they thought of all the details to make a breastfeeding mom comfortable while making products that will also work for women when they are no longer breastfeeding.

I have a two month old (my third child), so I am still using nursing pads regularly. I’ve never liked the rough disposable pads, so I have several different varieties of reusable nursing pads. The Bamboobies Nursing Pads are by far the best I’ve tried. These are very thin because of the hemp layer. Hemp is great because it is extremely absorbent, so the pads can be very thin. I use hemp inserts in my cloth diapers because they are so much less bulky on my little one. The same goes for these nursing pads. They are thin enough that it is not obvious I am wearing nursing pads. They are much less bulky than my other reusable nursing pads, yet they are very absorbent and do not leak. The second thing I love about these is their heart shape. They can be worn upside down, which is an excellent option for those of us who are not so well endowed. I am always struggling to stuff the circle pads far enough in that they do not hang out the front of my bra. With the upside down heart, the Bamboobies nursing pads tuck right in and can’t be seen. Third, (but could be first), the bamboo velour is so soft! These are the softest and most comfortable nursing pads I’ve tried. All of the above applies to the overnight pads, too, but they give more coverage and absorbency for longer wear. The overnight pads could easily be worn anytime, too. And I almost forgot that I was so excited that these came packaged in their own lingerie bag for washing. Very handy!

I also found the Bamboobies Brahhh to be very comfortable. I love the look of it in the blackberry color with the flower accent. Beyond its looks, it is a well thought out nursing bra. It is made of a very soft fabric that is easily pulled aside/down for nursing, so there are no snaps or clips to mess with. The straps are adjustable, and I like how they are attached in back in almost a racerback fashion but without the racerback look. I like this style because the straps don’t show in back if I wear a sleeveless shirt. The bra is marketed for lounging and sleeping, but I tested it out while running around, and I don’t think its use needs to be limited to home. Which reminds me of the other fantastic thing about it: you don’t have to stop wearing it when your little one has weaned. It doesn’t look like a nursing bra, so I’ll be keeping this in my rotation long after I’m done using it for its intended purpose!

I have been looking for an alternative to lanolin since I developed a sensitivity to it while nursing my second daughter a few years ago. I never really liked lanolin anyway, primarily because the consistency makes it difficult to apply gently, and I could always detect a faint smell. The Boob-Ease 100% Organic Nipple Balm is just what I was looking for. It is a balm that is lightweight, just the right consistency for easy application, and it does the trick. It is soothing, yet I can’t really tell I have it on. It also doesn’t have any scent (that I can pick up), which I appreciate. I used to use lanolin as a lubricant on my pumping shields while pumping at work, so I am very glad to have found Boob-Ease Nipple Balm to use from now on. This product would surely also be good for dry lips, hands, flyaway hair, boo-boos, etc. It seems like it would have lots of uses that would extend its usability beyond my need for it while nursing.

This looks like a cream here, but it’s definitely a balm. It is easy to pick a bit up on your finger because it stays soft (but not too soft) in the jar, then, it softens even more on your finger for very comfortable application.

Finally, I really love the Bamboobies Chic Nursing Shawl. It is chic. Nothing about this shawl would lead you to believe it is only for a nursing or pregnant woman. This shawl is so versatile, it will not be going into a bin or getting passed on to a pregnant friend when my baby has weaned. The black organic bamboo and cotton fabric is lightweight and soft, and I love the flower accent on this in the bright teal. For covering while nursing, I was able to easily get my baby situated under the shawl with the generous neck opening. The fabric is not stiff like with some covers, it drapes over the baby almost like a soft, thin blanket would, providing more privacy than the covers with the stiff opening at the neck (where your waiter can see exactly what’s going on when he looks down at you to take your order). I used it as a full cover, and I also used it to partially cover (leaving the top of my son’s head uncovered) when I had it on as a scarf. This shawl provides a very stylish way to nurse discreetly. I can see where the shawl would be great to use while expressing milk in a cold room at work, too. The shawl could keep you more thoroughly covered and warm than a cardigan would while allowing easy access. (I’m always freezing when pumping at work.)

Nursing at the playground. It was in the high 80s, but we were both perfectly comfortable
with the Chic Nursing Shawl on a bench in the shade.

It looks great layered over a nursing tank as a shawl, and I love the option to wear it as a scarf. The fabric is a lightweight jersey, so it hangs nicely. Several friends told me they wanted one even though they didn’t have babies. The shawl can also be easily folded and tucked into a diaper bag or purse.

I love the versatility of this shawl. I will definitely get a lot of use out of it as a scarf.

All in all, each of these products is very well thought out and very useful for a breastfeeding mom. In addition, everything can be used long after your little one is not so little and then again for future little ones. My daughter has even found a future use for the nursing pads.

Bonus: I found a brilliant use for the Chic Nursing Shawl that doesn’t seem to be marketed on the Bamboobies site right now, although it was in the past. The shawl can be used as a skirt! I loved this idea, and it works very well. I am not sure how one size fits all it would be, but it works for me and is so cute!
