Another week, another roundup of amazing beauty buys – and this time, most of them can be found on the budget aisles of Boots. After last weeks rather luxe selection, it seems only fair that we go easy on the bank balance…
I’ll get the only pricey buy out of the way first, because this little lovely (say that in Jay from the Inbetweeners voice) deserves a whole lot of attention; the Sunday Riley Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer (£38) takes deep breaths. Let me start by saying that I didn’t like this much at first; it’s marketed as a tinted primer but I have definitely tried far better versions. I then, for some reason, started using it all over the face like a tinted moisturiser and oh my gaaahd I was hooked. You wouldn’t think this would do much for the complexion as it’s really very sheer (and I have to admit, I like a good bit of coverage) but wow. Wow wow wow.
This is super light, yet it conceals almost everything – I do go in with concealer afterwards as my skin is blemish-prone and really breaking out, but even so my skin looks great. The dewy finish, the almost weightless formula, the long-wearing result – everything about this is dreamy. Well, except probably the price tag.
As I’ve mentioned 32 times already this week, my skin is breaking out like crazy. For this, I have only one solution; the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion (£14.50) – the light of my life. This spot treatment works miracles (almost), it totally takes down every kind of blemish and really gets to work overnight on those big boys that are looking a bit gross. I couldn’t live without it, it’s a must have!
Another skincare favourite of mine right now is the Body Shop Wild Argan Lip Balm (£4); I’m pretty picky when it comes to my lip balms but this fits the bill. It’s instantly hydrating, taking care of my forever-chapped lips as soon as it’s applied. It feels divine to apply and there’s no weird synthetic taste or smell.
I love applying it at night and throughout the day, and the gorgeous little pot is lovely too.
Finally, I wanted to give a shout out to the new Toni & Guy Cool Defining Cream which comes out next month. This is quite an odd product as it aims to define waves whilst also giving hair a polished, glossy look. It’s hard to explain but the result is lovely fresh waves, with a touch of shine and a whole lotta life.
It’s great if you love waves but prefer more of a messy look, but still love the shine. See? Hard to explain. Full review coming. Promise.
Have you tried any of these?
